BW Security World Presents 'Outstanding Security Performance Summit & Awards India 2020'

The Outstanding Security Performance Awards (OSPAs) India Chapter in association with BW Security World recognises and rewards companies and individuals across the security sector. The OSPAs are designed to be both independent and inclusive, providing an opportunity for outstanding performers, whether buyers or suppliers, to be recognised and their success to be celebrated.

Amid the biggest gathering of Security Industry leaders, a panel discussion was held to deep dive into the security industry.

The topic for panel discussion is Security Industry: Key to productive and secure India. Why security industry and government are natural partners?

The panel members are: Kunwar Vikram Singh, Chairman, Central Association of Private Security Industry, Mr Rituraj Sinha, Group Managing Director, SIS Group Enterprises, Mr Rajeev Sharma, Country Managing Director, G4S Corporate Services, Maj Manjit Ranjan- Global Chairman, Tenon group of companies, Dr Annurag Batra- Chairman & Editor-in-Chief, BW BusinessWorld & Exchange4media Group.

Rituraj Sinha begins the discussion by saying” The global private security industry is more than 200 Billion dollars in absolute size, it is growing at 5 to 7 percent per annum globally, in India the private security industry is almost 10 billion US dollars in size and unlike the rest of the world, the private security in India was growing at 15 to 20 percent per annum in the last 20 years. Definitely India is one of the most exciting places for the private security industry. Private security outnumbers police across countries.”

Kunwar Vikram Singh says: “the subject why private security industry and government are natural partners is because we have no other option because we are binded by Prime Minister Security agency Act so this is the partnership between us and the government and not only we are natural partners but the government is the management partner and they are management partners without investing money with us. It is a strange thing when the government has not invested money into us, they are the managing partners, they control us, they do everything and we are happy with this because the way things are changing, this security industry has really risen. The government realised that this partnership is a very good partnership.”

Rajeev Sharma says: “I think professional outsource services is something which is the need of the hour today and we have seen in the last couple of decades, the private sector in the country has embraced the professional outsource services to a very large extent and that is what has given the apparatus to the security industry to grow over the last two decades in the country and now it is the time, I think for the government also to start looking at embracing the professional outsource services for non-critical infrastructure.”

Manjit Rajain says: “We all have to appreciate that the government can’t invest everywhere and therefore private security industry will and has played a very important role, during the Covid Crisis this industry played a great role, we are the last people standing and we have examples all-around of security guards not leaving their post and not being relieved. I think that the security industry has been recognised by the government as a very important organ, something which was seen as an expense earlier is now being seen as a necessity.”

The Panel discusses the topic even more deeply further in the discussion.
