Passion For Entrepreneurship Is Not Category Specific, Say Experts

In a country like India, the role of entrepreneurship has also become important because it is the only way to address issues like unemployment, economics and gender parity in the workforce.

India is home to millions of start-ups. The start-up community in India is also shaping new conversations and giving rise to new possibilities both in the public and private sectors. 

In a country like India, the role of entrepreneurship has also become important because it is the only way to address issues like unemployment, economics and gender parity in the workforce. 

India is witnessing the rise of start-ups in every sector and a significant number of these start-ups are helmed by women.

At a recent discussion on ‘Sunshine industry sectors entrepreneurs can explore in their journey to expand or begin new ventures, women entrepreneurs spoke about the opportunities that await new entrepreneurs.

The panel was attended by Iti Tyagi, Founder, Craft, Village by Zephyr, Meghna More, Co-founder, Truelight Wellness, Meghna Suryakumar, Founder & CEO, Crediwatch, Saachi Bahl, Founder, Saahra, Tamanna Dhamija, Co-founder, Convosight & Baby Destination, Tanul Mishra, CEO, Afthonia Lab and Veena Gupta, Founder & President, Seam Global Consulting, Singapore, India, SE Asia and Ila Longani.

Speaking about the scope of entrepreneurship across sectors, Meghna Suryakumar of Crediwatch stated that there are equal opportunities across sectors and it is more about passion than just the scope.

Echoing these sentiments, Tamanna Dhamija and Tanul Mishra also underlined that India presented a huge opportunity across sectors and there was no particular sector that could be singled out. They also added that the passion for entrepreneurship was not category specific or driven by profit margins alone.

The panellists also spoke about the need to have more women entrepreneurs in India since there are many categories that are still to be explored and could become the next success stories in the journey of women entrepreneurship.
