Artificial intelligence (AI) has become centerstage in very conversation of the future even if evidence of its play and reward is still not aplenty. Entrepreneurs nonetheless understand that this is an opportunity they cannot afford to leave for later.

Even as the last few years have seen the debate of AI challenging the ‘human’ quotient, to the extent of even a takeover, there is a need to better understand how the two can co-exist.

“AI today is at the same stage, where data analytics was in the year 2006,” Rasik Pansare, Co-Founder and CMO, Getmyparking, adding, “Very few engineers are equipped on how to make technology that delivers results. AI at present is more of a buzzword. However, engineers are training themselves in both AI and machine learning so that they are prepared for the time when these technologies take off.”

The Head of India for Internet Corporation for Assigned Names & Numbers (ICANN), Samiran Gupta, asked founders whether it is time for some regulation to come in the likes of AI and ML

To this, Trishneet Arora, Founder & CEO, TAC Security cautioned that AI is in still very nascent stage. He said, “It is too early to consider any regulation in AI since it still needs to grow to its potential.”

If the human element is the ‘smart’ in smartphone, it is imperative to understand how the relationship between human and artificial intelligence will balance each other for sustained growth.

Citing the example of robotics, where AI is at an advanced stage, Kaushlendra Singh Sengar, Founder, INVEST19 & Advisorymandi.com observed, “Much like how emergent technologies are updated or understand human behaviour, human beings also need to learn about emergent technologies. Wherever AI fails, human intervention is needed to address the flaws,’’ he added.

These industry experts were presenting at the BW Businessworld and BW Disrupt TechTors 2020 that took place in New Delhi on January 23, 2020.
