Mindsets Can Be Dealt With Mindsets

The second session titled "Working for Social Impact" revolved around the subject of social impact start-ups.

Social impact-driven start-ups are considered to be a different set of pie but yet have to drive a business model. The second session of  BW Buinessworld and exchange4media Group's event, the 40 Under 40, titled "Working for Social Impact" revolved around the subject of social impact start-ups. The panel consisted of Varun Jain, Founder & CEO, udChalo; Mayukh Choudhary, Co-Founder & CEO Milaap; Arjun Vaidya, CEO, Dr Vaidya's. The session was moderated by Jyotsna Sharma. 

Discussing their business ideas, Jain from udChalo talked about how his need to create a social impact led him to create an organisation supporting people to access services in the transportation sector. Choudhary from Milaap informed that seeing help in a diverse country like India is not easy. He specified that he wanted to create something through technology that could make a real difference. Vaidya added that through his upbringing around ayurveda, he wanted to create an accessible platform for people to buy good ayuvedic products.   

Considering socially impacted start-ups working into just social areas and not just delivering real business modes, Jain informed that udChalo has a viable business model which is delivering what they started to do. However, for Milaap, Choudhary said that they consider themselves as a problem solvers from the inception. The only platform that supports and help people fundraise for not jut medical ailments but also for any problem. Vaidya highlighting the subject of perception informed that problems around mindsets are a concern. "But mindsets can be dealt with mindsets only", said Choudhary. 


Coming to the last subject of how are the start-ups being an employee-friendly workplace, Jain informed that employee well-being is the key area and one of the top goals. He added that the club not just medical support but personal support and involvement also. Choudhary added that they always look at how will an employee look back at their phase in life after a few years of their tenure. Its the experience with the employees that matters to him. Vaidya ended saying that they have always focussed on getting best out of their employees leading to not just professional growth but personal growth as well.
