Job Platform Indeed To Lay Off Over 2,000 Employees

US-based job search platform Indeed on Wednesday said it will let approximately 2,200 people go. This is roughly 15 per cent of the company’s headcount.

Making the announcement, Indeed CEO Chris Hyams said that the job cuts will happen for nearly every team, function, level and region.

“The specific decisions on who and where to cut were extremely difficult, but they were made with great care,” he said.

Hyams also said that Indeed was focusing on being the “organisation of the future” and aligning its strategy and priorities for the same. He also explained that the job cuts had no measurable disproportionate impact on women and under-represented genders or the under-represented minority population in the US.

“We worked closely with the HR, Legal, and DEIB+ teams to ensure objectivity and equity in these decisions,” he added.

As part of the company’s restructuring, Hyams is taking a 25 per cent cut in his base pay.

The job listing platform has announced 16 weeks of base salary, or two weeks for every year of service as part of its severance package. The company is also offering access to ongoing career placement services for six months and ongoing mental health services for twelve months.
