Leading FMCG company, Adani Wilmar, has taken legal action against the B2B platform Jumbotail, accusing them of distributing counterfeit products. In response to the filed FIR, law enforcement conducted a raid at Jumbotail's warehouse, unearthing a disturbingly large quantity of fake items bearing the Adani Wilmar brand name.

The confiscated products included 126 bottles of one litre Fortune Kachi Ghani Mustard Oil without lids, 37 counterfeit one litre pouches of Fortune Refined Soybean Oil, and 16 bottles of one litre Fortune Sarso Oil.

According to the press release, the discovery came to light during a routine market survey conducted by Adani Wilmar representatives. A trader had raised concerns about inconsistencies in the product packaging after making a purchase from Jumbotail's online platform. Adani Wilmar initiated an examination of the reported product, which led to the revelation of significant discrepancies in Batch Code details, the presence of fake QR codes, and the use of different packaging materials—confirming the existence of counterfeit goods.

Adani Wilmar is actively collaborating with law enforcement agencies to address and combat such unlawful practices in the market.

Speaking on the incident, an Adani Wilmar spokesperson said, “At Adani Wilmar, consumer trust and product integrity are paramount. We are deeply concerned about counterfeit products circulating in the market and posing risks to consumers' health. Taking this matter seriously, we are collaborating with authorities to swiftly identify sources of counterfeits and take decisive actions against unscrupulous traders. We are committed to offering patrons with high-quality, authentic, and pure products. We will continue to engage in stringent measures to safeguard consumers' interests and maintain integrity of the brand.”

Speaking on the incident, a Jumbotail spokesperson commented saying, “Adani Wilmar contacted us about certain alleged counterfeited products. As soon as we received their communication we checked our systems and proactively shared the details of stock available in one of our location. Based on our information they visited our location to inspect the stocks. We continue to offer all assistance to the Adani team to identify the original source of the vendors from whom the products were procured. Jumbotail has a zero tolerance policy towards counterfeit products and we take strict measures to ensure only original products are sold through our platform. We will continue to provide all necessary assistance to the Adani Wilmar and the law enforcement authorities to trace the original source of the said alleged counterfeit products."
