Meta’s messaging platform WhatsApp on Monday launched message editing feature which will allow its users to correct anything from a simple misspelling to adding extra context to a message.

One of the most demanded features on WhatsApp, message editing is expected to give users more control over their chats. All they need to do is long-press on a sent message and choose Edit from the menu.

Edited messages will be marked as edited alongside them, which means that the receiver of a message will be aware of the correction without showing edit history.

The feature is available to users for up to 15 minutes after they send a message. After the 15 minutes have passed, users cannot edit their messages. This is similar to time limits on editing chats across various platforms such as LinkedIn.

WhatsApp in its blog said the edits to a message are protected by end-to-end encryption.

The feature is being rolled out globally and is expected to be available to all users in the weeks ahead.

WhatsApp is now reportedly working on a new feature for its iOS app that will allow its users to create stickers within the app, according to WaBetaInfo. The feature has already been spotted in the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.10.0.74 update that is available on the TestFlight app.
