Young entrepreneurs and professionals are everywhere. But those that have that little extra is a rarity. And to recognise that rarity — call it drive, talent, aggression or whatever, BW Disrupt called a cream of experts and entrepreneurs to dig for diamonds in the terrain. And they did, and culled a list of 40 under 40 of the most talented professionals and entrepreneurs making an impact in the social innovation and business.

Eleven jury members gathered to discuss and nominate winners in a first of its kind meet along with the BW Disrupt team. Among them were Mohandas Pai, Chairman, Aarin Capital and Manipal Global Eduation Services, who was also chairman of the jury. He was assisted by other renowned names like Dr Indu Shahani, President and Chair, ISDI, ISME, ISDI WPP; Kulmeet Bawa, MD, South Asia, Adobe; Alok Jalan, MD, Laqshya Media; Amit Shah, Senior President & Country Head, YES Bank; Ganesh Natarajan, Chairman of F5 World & Social Venture Partners India; Geet Lulla, MD (India), Middle East and South East Asia, Gracenote; Muruguvel Janakiraman, Founder & CEO, Matrimony.com; Naveen Munjal, MD, Hero Eco Hero; Raj Nayak, CEO, Colors–Viacom18 and Vinesh Menon, CEO—Education and Skilling, VIBGYOR Group of Schools.

“I think that it was an interesting and a rather tough process to determine the top 40 names representing the startup industry. The initiative taken here today is also to celebrate those winners who refuse to be ordinary and strive to provide the best in every unique way. In a world where customers are demanding services while undergoing a digital transformation, this is the age of a new business culture. We will see an extensive growth in this industry by 2025 and the rise of new forms of businesses that will play a major role in the economy,” said Pai.

Vision, innovation, leadership, impact, influence and personal achievements were primary factors that determined the crème of the startup industry in India. But what derived quality in the names listed was the amount of social impact their organisation has made and contributed for the society’s benefits. The jury meet took place on the 18th of August, 2018 at the Leela Hotel, Mumbai, and the winners will be announced in one of our upcoming issues really soon. Watch this space.
