Aamir Khan And Kiran Rao Part Away After 15 Years Of Marriage

Film actors Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao have decided to separate after 15 years of marriage. This was Aamir Khan's second marriage to Kiran Rao. An official statement has been issued on behalf of Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao. Aamir Khan has said in his statement that both are no longer husband and wife, but will continue to work together. Together they have formed the Paani Foundation, will continue to work together on this project. Moreover, the statement reads that this is not an end, but a new beginning. Aamir Khan also thanked both the families. 

Despite living apart, the couple will ‘nurture and raise’ their son Azad Rao Khan together. “We began a planned separation some time ago, and now feel comfortable to formalise this arrangement, of living separately yet sharing our lives the way an extended family does. We remain devoted parents to our son Azad, who we will nurture and raise together,” the statement reads. 

Aamir and Kiran met for the first time during the shooting of the film 'Lagaan'. Aamir was in the lead role in this film and Kiran Rao was an assistant director in the film. The two tied the knot on December 28, 2005.  

Aamir Khan was first married to Reena Dutta, but they got divorced in 2002 after 16 years of marriage. He has a daughter Ira and a son Junaid from Reena Dutta.
