Children of today are architects of tomorrow. Our future is with the children and parents play a key role in each child’s development. They are perhaps much or more important as school/academics.’ Such is the belief of Nitin Pandey, Founder and CEO of Parentune who has been feted by  BW 40 under 40 this year.

A real-time support for parents, Parentune is a pro-parent community and a technology startup in the space of babytech and parenting. Counted among the most used apps by parents in India, it supports parents right from pregnancy to teen-years. “Parent-first approach, keeping technology at core of our solutions, research- and data-led decision making, positive impatience to solve parents’ challenges and learn-fun-speed culture has helped us move at pace,” says Pandey.

The origins of the startup can be traced back to a research conducted by Pandey to understand the challenges of 2,000 parents he met in different cities. Back then, he was the only team member and he moved around with a tripod and a camcorder. It was this research that later helped the team move forward with clarity and conviction. However, Pandey believes that it was the focus on delivering well to clients, delivering consumer-focused and date driven templates that helped them emerge as the most used apps by parents in India.

Pandey’s decision of focussing on unit economics enabled them to be revenue positive and his decision of competing with the global best brought belief to bring in a positive change in the world.

Designed with the aim of supporting parents and solving their challenges, Parentune is now supporting 5 million parents. Achieving such heights of success might not have been possible without an inspiration and in Pandey’s case his grandparents served as his inspiration. Both of them were highly self-motivated and made invaluable contributions to the country.

While Parentune is currently supporting around 5 million parents, the space of
babytech and parenting is expected to rise in the coming years. As parents are becoming busier than ever and multi-tasking has almost become an integral part of their lives, Pandey believes that Parentune comes as a boon for them, supporting them in doing what is right for their kid.

Elaborating on how Parentune has become more of a necessity for parents he says, “Parents want a real time support for their child, who they could turn to for answers, advice and support. We curate a proparent community where parents could help each other and we kept iterating our solutions to solve parents’ challenges.”

Pandey who seems optimistic about the growth of the industry has certain future plans for his company. He envisages Parentune as a globally leading technology firm founded in India, supporting more than 500 million parents around the world by 2023. “We would be among the top impact firms globally and would be one of the most valued change makers,” says Pandey.

While on one hand, he envisages an ambitious future for the company, on the other, Pandey he wants to spend quality time with his family. “Among other things. I like to play cricket with my team mates, help entrepreneurs and start-ups, continue to write and most importantly enjoy each day as it was my last,” says Pandey. He believes that there are two things young entrepreneurs could do to make things better: “Join others who are at it and collaborate with them or do it yourself”. All the aspiring and young entrepreneurs must keep in mind this one sentence “An entrepreneur is someone who can keep the startup running when money runs out”.
