India Sees Rise In Swine Flu, Dengue Cases

India has been blown with an uprising number of dengue and swine flu cases as COVID seems to take a backseat due to herd immunity.

Notably, the reported cases are more than 30,627 for dengue with 12 deaths while talking about swine flu, more than 1,455 cases with 30 deaths have been recorded by the end of August, in the country, the Union Health Ministry stated.

As per the data released, Karnataka leads the number of dengue cases with 5,392, while the other states like Tamil Nadu (3,396), Telangana (2,960), Maharashtra (2,927), Andhra Pradesh (2,309), Kerala (2,007), Odisha (1,745), Chhattisgarh (1,448), and Gujarat (1,212) are also seeing a heightened number of cases.

Furthermore, Maharashtra is leading with the number of cases of swine flu, reportedly having 512 cases with 16 deaths till now. Followed by Karnataka, Gujarat, Rajasthan and West Bengal with 283, 205, 125, and 81 cases respectively.

Moreover, fewer cases are also reported in Goa (61), Telangana (38), and Delhi (12).

The Union of Health Ministry warned all the states and UTs to take preliminary actions for the reported cases and treatment of affected individuals. Strict measures need to be taken to avoid an outbreak in the country, the health ministry added in their statement.

"Some states are already witnessing the outbreaks, but it is not in pan-India. Covid and flu are contiguous diseases which could be spread by coming in contact with the affected person or by the droplets from the nasal or mouth coming out while sneezing. Dengue has seen an upsurge due to heavy rains in several states. The centre is serious about the matter and taking precautions to avoid an overall outbreak, meanwhile, all the state governments are overseeing the reported cases at their level," according to the statement given by an anonymous senior official of the National Centre for Disease Control.
