Today, India is globally recognised as an innovative and entrepreneurial economy, said Amitabh Kant, former CEO of Niti Ayog on Monday.

He said that much of this can be attributed to startup India, an initiative by the central government and the impact it has had.

"The transformation in regulation and processes making things easy and simple in just seven years has been incredible," said Kant.

Making India an easy process to do business, digitised processes, revamped patent filing and tax benefits were just some areas through which startup India catalysed India's startup ecosystem through a whole of government approach, he added while praising the initiative.

"The vision of PM Modi to catalyse India's startup and innovation ecosystem, usher in ease of doing business and invest in digital public infrastructure has been lauded globally and placed us on a firm inclusive growth trajectory. A great model for the world to adapt," he said.

Kant further added that seven years ago today, the energy during the launch of startup India by PM Modi heralded the start of something big.

"We had 471 startups then. Now, we have 88,000 plus startups and the third-largest startup ecosystem in the world. Truly a transformative initiative," he stated.
