Make Education Enjoyable And Relevant: Panelists, 3rd Higher Education And HR Conference

"Soft skills need to be incorporated into our curriculum so that our students can be better communicators too," says panelists

The 3rd Higher Education and HR conference was held at Radisson-437' class='description_topic_highlight'>Radisson-103' class='description_topic_highlight'>Radisson-437' class='description_topic_highlight'>Radisson Blu, Jaipur. The objective behind the proposed conclave was to ensure that practice meets theory across all functional areas and discussions on Skills, Innovations, Industry Connect and fostering entrepreneurship are ensuring growth in Higher Education Institutions. The event also provided a platform to share best practices in Higher Education from across the country.

Hon'ble Minister Smt. Kiran Maheshwari, Minister of Higher and Technical Education, Govt of Rajasthan was the Chief Guest while Mr. Ashutosh AT Pednekar, IAS, Commissioner - College Education and Additional Chief Secy Higher Education was the Programme Chair for this initiative. 

After the formal welcome of Hon'ble Minister and other dignitaries, Mr. Hoshie Ghaswalla of BW Businessworld gave the inaugural address where he mentioned that we need to create our education enjoyable and relevant. He also focussed that soft skills need to be incorporated into our curriculum so that our students can be better communicators too. He was also of the opinion that India has a potential to become the front end in every sector, if the proper systems are put in place. 

Later on, Mr. Pednekar shared the statistics of numerous achievements which Rajasthan government have taken in the last 5 years. He said that issues pertaining to Faculty, Infrastructure and Human Resources are being taken care of. He proclaimed that more than 17000 students have been enrolled in higher education this year in Rajasthan. He also announced that Rajasthan government's educational mobile Dishari App is also being downloaded by more than 1000 people every day. Pednekar also stressed that public universities need to collaborate with private institutions to get better results and make students employable in the future. 

Prof TP Reddy, however, focussed on the Gross Enrollment Ratio and the issues relating to unemployment. 

At the outset, the Chief Guest of the event, Mrs. Maheshwari congratulated entire BW Businessworld for having the event coordinated and shared various success stories of Rajasthan government who is leaving no stone unturned in making the state as one of the best in the country to be known for Education. 

Mrs. Maheshwari emphasised on the issue of skills which are missing from our students who in turn are unable to secure good jobs. She mentioned that 9500 students and 500 teachers will be trained by Microsoft on technical skills in the coming year. She said that Rajasthan government has been the frontrunner in all policies being implemented by the central government in the entire nation. She also confirmed that, "a total of 62 new colleges have been started in last year in Rajasthan," which is a great start.
