HP CM Sukhu Plans To Improve Air Connectivity With Expansion Of Kangra Airport

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu reaffirmed his government's dedication to enhancing air connectivity and overall progress in the state. He outlined a range of initiatives aimed at achieving these objectives, including the expansion of Kangra Airport and the development of Kangra district as the premier tourism destination in Himachal Pradesh, attracting both international and domestic tourists. 

CM Sukhu expressed, "Expansion of Kangra Airport would bring economic prosperity to the region." He emphasised that the state government has initiated the process of acquiring land for the airport expansion and assured that displaced individuals would be provided government land to ensure their well-being and prevent homelessness. 

Efforts are also underway to improve air connectivity, such as constructing a chopper hangar in Palampur. Additionally, the Chief Minister virtually laid the foundation stone for the Modern Police Station in Shahpur, with a budget of five crore rupees allocated for the project, set to commence construction from Chandigarh

"Government plans to allocate Rs 70 crore for the Shahpur-Fatehpur road project and has provided funds for Rehan College. Furthermore, approval has been granted for the opening of a Police Station in Bir," CM Sukhu stated. 

The Chief Minister stressed the state government's commitment to balanced and uniform development throughout the entire state, transcending regional sentiments. A training course for drone pilots and mechanics has been initiated at ITI Shahpur. 

Despite the challenging economic conditions, CM Sukhu assured that there would be no shortage of funds for development projects. The government has also implemented the old pension scheme to ensure security and dignity for its employees during their old age. 

CM Sukhu criticised the previous BJP government for neglecting the state's interests, particularly in power projects undertaken by SJVN. He stated that the previous government failed to attract investments and instead depleted the state's resources. 

In addition, Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has sought the central government's support for the refund of over Rs 9,200 crore deposited in the NPS. 

To address the state's 7.19 per cent share in Chandigarh, a Cabinet Sub-Committee led by Agriculture Minister Chander Kumar has been established. Chander Kumar expressed the government's determination to make Himachal Pradesh a prosperous and self-reliant state. 

He highlighted various steps taken by the government to strengthen the state's economy and assured that all promises made during the assembly elections would be fulfilled gradually.
