A Look Back At Modi Government's Key Infrastructure Projects

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his admiration on Twitter for the endeavours of his government on Thursday, emphasising that over the past nine years, they have diligently cultivated the foundations of growth and development in India. 

PM Modi specifically drew attention to the fact that these efforts are forging an infrastructure landscape that is unmatched in its excellence. 

Additionally, the Prime Minister highlighted that each sector has experienced rapid progress, creating a favourable environment for the emergence of a developed India.  

“In #9YearsOfGatiAndPragati, we nurtured the roots of growth and development in India, shaping an infrastructure landscape that is unparalleled. Every sector has witnessed swift advancement, setting the stage for a developed India,” Modi said in a tweet. 

PM Modi's comments coincide with the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) nationwide efforts, as they organise various programs across the country. To commemorate the nine-year tenure of the Modi government, the party has initiated an extensive public engagement campaign under the hashtag '9YearsOfGatiAndPragati'. 


 

PM Modi also shared write-ups and visuals on the achievements of his government in the infrastructure sector. 


PM Modi created world-class infrastructure in 9 years: Amit Shah 

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also commended the accomplishments of the Modi government, emphasising that over the past nine years, they have transformed India by establishing infrastructure of global standards.  

Shah emphasised that under Modi's leadership, the government not only successfully concluded pending projects but also executed new ones with remarkable swiftness. The home minister also used the hashtag #9YearsOfGatiAndPragati in his tweet to join in commemorating the nine-year journey of progress and development. 

“With giant strides in ensuring seamless connectivity PM @narendramodi Ji laid the foundation of a developed India. From completing languishing projects to implementing new ones with unprecedented speed, India emerged as the global supply chain leader in #9YearsOfGatiAndPragati,” Shah tweeted. 


Here’s a look at some of the projects the Modi government has handled in the last nine years: 

PM Gati Shakti: A Game Changer 

The Gati Shakti Master Plan, introduced by PM Modi on 13 October 2021, stands as a significant undertaking that aims to enhance collaboration among various ministries, states, and departments. This initiative, as stated by Brickwork Ratings, will simplify the planning process and contribute to reduced implementation expenses. Furthermore, Yash Jain from the Nimbus Post emphasised that the initiative will incentivise Chinese companies to consider relocating to India. 

Port Infrastructure 

Acknowledging the pivotal role of port infrastructure in driving economic growth, the Modi government has undertaken ambitious endeavours to enhance and modernise India's ports. Substantial advancements and notable developments have been witnessed in the nation's port infrastructure, demonstrating the government's commitment to its growth. 

India’s own ‘Google Maps’ 

Under the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan For Connectivity, the Indian Government has introduced a novel digital tool aimed at addressing the challenges of project delays and the absence of centralised information in centralised infrastructure projects. Informally known as 'India's Google Map Infrastructure Development,' this initiative seeks to provide comprehensive guidance for such projects. 

Improvement in connectivity  

Over the past years, the government has successfully launched 15 Vande Bharat trains, with plans to manufacture an additional 400 Vande Bharat express trains in the next three years. The Modi government has also prioritised the development of metro infrastructure across various cities. Notably, the past nine years have witnessed metro rail projects extending to 20 different cities. 

Infrastructure as nation’s growth engine: Budget 2023  

In a significant move, the government demonstrated its boldness in the budget by raising the capital investment outlay to Rs 7.5 lakh crores. The budget for 2023 witnessed a substantial increase in capital expenditures for Indian Railways, amounting to nine times more than the allocation for the fiscal year 2013-14.
