Government of India (Ministry of Textiles) and Government of Maharashtra to sign an MoUat the launch of PM MITRA Park, Amravati on 16th July 2023

The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), Government of Maharashtra launched the PM MITRA Park, Amravati on 16th July 2023 at Grand Hyatt, Kalina, Mumbai. The event featuredan MoU signing ceremony between the Government of Maharashtra and Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. Along with that, MoUs worth INR 1320 Crores were also signed. It includes Sanathan Polycot Pvt. Ltd. INR 1000 Crores, Pratap Industries INR 200 Crores, Shri Siddhivinayak Cotspin Pvt. Ltd. 100 Crores, and Pollman India Ltd. INR 20 Crores. These investments will generate a direct and indirect employment of 5000.

The grand launch event was graced by the Honourable Minister of Textiles, Government of India, Piyush Goyal, and Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde along with Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, Minister of State, Government of India, Darshana Jardosh, Minister (Industries), Government of Maharashtra, Uday Samant and Minister (Textiles), Chandrakant Dada Patil. Senior officials from the Ministry of textiles, Govt. of India and from Government of Maharashtra shall also be present during this event.

The Government of India announced the PM MITRA Scheme on 15th January 2022, to make the Indian Textile Industry,globally competitive and to realize Hon. PM’s goal of 5F (Farm to Fiber to Factory to Fashion to Foreign). Multiple states submitted their proposal to set up these parks in collaboration with the Government of India and In March 2023, 7 PM MITRA Parks were approved. ForMaharashtra, the Government of India approved a brownfield PM MITRA Park for theAmravati district, Maharashtra. ‘’The Amravati district, well known for cotton cultivation, already has a well-developed textile ecosystem along with a highly skilled labour force due to more than 200 established industry players in the region.

This mega park is being set up on a contiguous1020 acres of land at Nandgaon Peth, adjacent to the Addl. Amravati Industrial Area (MIDC),located at a distance of 30 kms from the Mumbai Nagpur Samruddhi Highway and, 147 kms from the nearest port(Wardha Dry Port.)This being a brownfield park, already has provisions for common infrastructure such asroad, waterand electricity.Furthermore, the Government of Maharashtra and MIDC offers competitive utility rates in its industrial areas e.g., water price for proposed MITRA park is INR 15/KL and Power INR 5.5/unit (average billing rate), along with competitive land rates in the region.The park will also have water capacity of 50 MLD with CETP of 5 MLD existing and additional 10 MLD planned.

The PM MITRA Parkis aimed to create direct employment skilled and unskilled labour for 1.5 lac residents of the district and also is capable of attracting high value investments, particularly FDI. As on date, more than INR 2000 crore investment intentions have been pledged in the area.

In an effort to attract large-scale textile industries, the Government of Maharashtra, recently, has also announced special incentives under the state’s new Integrated and Sustainable Textile Policy, 2023-28 and the Industrial policy, 2019. The policy envisions to attractinvestment of Rs. 25,000 Crore and create up to 10 lakh jobs in the next five years, across the state by providing attractive incentives in the sector. The addition of PM MITRA park in the textile ecosystem of Maharashtra will further enhance the integration of textile value chain and with the Samrudhi expressway easing the logistics, the PM MITRA park at Amravati is well poised to become the manufacturing and export hub, as envisioned by the Hon. Prime Minister.
