In the vast realm of information technology, Infosys truly shines as a beacon of sustainability and environmental responsibility. With a workforce of more than 3 lakh employees and serving more than 1,500 clients in 50 countries, the Bengaluru-headquartered company stands tall as a global leader that goes above and beyond to prioritise the well-being of both people and the planet.

Infosys has recognised the immense potential of sustainability as a catalyst for growth and positive impact. Embracing the principles of ESG (Environment, Social, and Governance), the company has carved out a clear path for the future, aligning its aspirations with the International Energy Agency's 2°C scenario.

The IT major has achieved remarkable feats in reducing its environmental footprint, setting an inspiring example for the industry. Against the 2013 baseline, the company has made significant strides in slashing its absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, exceeding expectations with an outstanding 63.85 per cent reduction, surpassing the projected 20.4 per cent reduction by FY22.

With a touch of grandeur, Infosys has etched climate action deep into its DNA since 2008. The company embraced carbon neutrality across all three scopes of emissions, achieving this milestone in FY2020 and proudly maintaining it for three consecutive years. With climate change considerations woven into its fabric, Infosys seamlessly integrates sustainability into everything, from strategic mergers and acquisitions to selecting new office spaces and engaging stakeholders.

Reduce, Reuse and Recycle

Infused with a touch of brilliance, Infosys has also looked at tackling waste management head-on. A stunning 91 per cent reduction in single-use plastic at its campuses since 2018 demonstrates the company's dedication to minimising environmental impact. In fact, per capita plastic waste consumption has dropped by an impressive 41 per cent since 2018.

The commitment to the mantra of "reduce, reuse, and recycle" has echoed through every aspect of Infosys, with 100 per cent of wastewater generated at its campuses recycled and repurposed. A staggering 705,445.25 kl of water was recycled and reused in FY22, representing 64.77 per cent of the total water withdrawal. Energised by sustainability, Infosys draws power from renewable sources, with a captivating 53.8 per cent of electricity for its India operations derived from clean energy.

Breaking Barriers

Infosys has also strived to achieve gender diversity in its workforce. The company has set its sights on a remarkable goal of having 45 per cent women by 2030. Infusing a touch of elegance, the women in management programme has empowered female talent through immersive workshops, fostering growth in the areas of self, teams, clients and business. Infosys also orchestrated virtual sessions during FY 2021-22, engaging over 100 women across various batches and igniting their potential.

The company has gone beyond industry norms, crafting an oasis of employee wellness. Driven by an unyielding desire to be recognised as one of the best employers in the regions it operates, Infosys has meticulously addressed sexual harassment cases, resolving all 11 filed and leaving none pending.
