Innovation And Entrepreneurship Skills Are Key To Development: Prof. Margaret Ledwin, Flinders University

One needs to make a difference in his life to achieve success in life, said Prof. Margaret Ledwin, Innovation Professor at Flinders University, Australia while speaking at ICFAI - BW's second higher education conclave at The Lalit, Delhi on Thursday morning.

She said that world is going through with fourth industrial revolution and it is very important that one needs to imbibe the technological advances in his life and scale up his efficiency. She asserted that many people are tackling with the phenomena of Underemployment and Unemployment whereas it is not because of any special crisis that has taken us overnight but it is due to the non-availability of any specific skills.

Prof Margaret maintained that courses and curriculum are secondary these days and skill set is what people look for in a candidate and that is the reason why many brilliant meritorious candidates are simply unemployed or unable to find an appropriate opportunity for themselves. She also adds that innovative programmes are the need of the hour and adaptability of the students and leadership skills of a teacher makes it a better framework.

Australian academic also expressed that Entrepreneurship is also very relevant these days because it leads to various successful careers. While concluding her presentation, she suggested that embedding skills into your CV will take you to different heights of your career.

The other panelist, Prof Venkata Ramana, Vice Chairman of Telangana State Education council spoke about the new initiatives that the state is taking. He said that our orthodox curriculum is a problem because it needs to be updated with best practices of the industry. He also clearly stated that innovation is not related to technology always and different other forms of innovations can be thought of and still are under process.

 Telangana Administrator also said that he came from academics and would like to encourage and motivate new talent who are working hard for any innovative and entrepreneurship project.
