Irrfan Khan: Bid Adieu To A Versatile Actor

Life is a game of accepting surprises and how you react to them. The current COVID19 being the biggest of them all. As we are still coping up with it, the universe gave another emotional surprise. 

The demise of an actor who is connected to the hearts of people. A human being who defined how destiny can change the course of life if you have the talent and have the zeal to Pursue your passion.  IRRFAN KHAN. a name which brought sorrow to the hears on hearing about his exit from the real-life scenario. 

Khan shall always be known as one of India's most talented actors.

In 2018, the actor revealed he had a neuroendocrine tumour, rare cancer which most of us heard about for the first time. 

His treatment at a London hospital for the illness didn’t work out. His illness was cells that release hormones into the bloodstream and this did the Damage.

Khan had been in intensive care in a Mumbai hospital since Tuesday with a colon infection and he succumbed to the impact. 

He had the distinction to work with the high and mighty of the Indian and the international film industry. 

Khan was known for his finesse to work across from Bollywood to the theatre to Hollywood action and art house. He was impactful. Every role he played, people took him to their hearts. 

In 2013, he won India's National Film Award for his leading role in Paan Singh Tomar, a biopic about a top athlete who becomes a bandit. An absolute unforgettable performance. 

Other Bollywood hits he acted in included Lunchbox and Hindi Medium. His latest, Angrezi Medium, was released just last month.

His international breakthrough came in the British-Indian film The Warrior by director Asif Kapadia which won a Bafta.

The success of The Warrior launched his film career post which he would participate in five or six movies a year.

He was selected by Mira Nair - who had spotted his talent and they went on to make  The Namesake in 2006 and New York, I Love You in 2010.

He also played a role as a Pakistani police captain in A Mighty Heart and also The Darjeeling Limited. 

Khan has gone public with his diagnosis, he wrote an open letter about his experience with the cancer treatment, and again inspired the world with his thoughts about life. 

It drew a massive outpouring of support from his fans around the world.

Khan was buried at the Versova Kabristan cemetery in Mumbai. In the presence of his close relatives and some friends. 

Four days earlier, Khan's 95-year-old mother died in Jaipur and his own medical condition and the lockdown scenario restricted him to be at the last rites of his mother. 

He shall always be with us. His expressions, his simplicity of acting and each of his performances are etched in our hearts forever. Salute to the way he lived his life and embraced all situations. He was an inspiration at a different level. RIP
