Quality of life has been an epitome for everyone, be it at home, office or under the open-sky. People focus a lot on interior décor and the aesthetic value of their spaces. Changes like quality of life, minimalism, eccentric décor, play of colors, privacy etc., has resulted in a widespread of awareness regarding sound insulation and level of noise in the surrounding environment.

Traditional ways of restyling homes has changed with relevance to aesthetics and design that suggest functional purpose. Renovations allow homeowners to create homes that reflect their personality, needs and liking. Festivals have been that time of the year when people would want / like to renovate.

Painting, furniture, ceilings, texture, designs all of these are thought through well in advance and planned accordingly. However, acoustics, in particular remains a neglected aspect of interior design and renovation. Today, alternative construction solutions such as gypsum are gaining prominence in India. Used extensively for indoor acoustic efficiency, it is a modern day solution as compared to the time consuming and ecologically straining process of sand cement plaster.

Acoustics may be an unnoticed aspect while renovating, however it holds essential characteristics to facilitate comfort and a sound environment. Multiple factors such as walls, ceilings, partitions, are components which are considered while upgrading a home rather than moving to a new one.

Here are four quick ways you can use to ramp up the acoustic quality of your home, without compromising on style.

Drywalls for convenience

Gypsum-based drywalls are in the market since a while and is considered as a trend for future Indian homes. Distinct from masonry walls where acoustics is seen as a difficulty, gypsum-based drywalls or drywall partitions, are lightweight and offer a premium range of sound insulation.

Drywall partitions are capable of delivering up to 70 decibels of sound insulation levels, it is the best alternate solution for preventing sound from traveling and provides noise insulation.

The convenience in terms of construction, drywall is eco-friendly and comparatively cost effective. It’s a premium option while renovating a house for its multifaceted properties. They are easy to set up and detach as and when required, providing a hassle-free construction process. Drywall with its dynamics of acoustics, moisture and load parameters proves to be an apt product to be considered while renovating.

Vivid ceilings

Walls aren’t just the four walls that make a room, ceilings: also known as the fifth wall is an integral part of home interiors. Few years back, ceilings weren’t considered while renovating, but today, ceilings have become an essential element while re-doing a home. Witnessing an upward swing in both acceptance and demand, designer ceilings has become a trend in the interior décor space.

From patterns, to carved statues, to hollow indents with lights, ceilings are a quintessential part while renovating homes. Gypsum-based designer ceilings offer a variety in terms of shapes, designs and colour as well as offer a smooth finish.

Ceilings are often thought of with a sense of aesthetics. Intricate designs are plausible with drywalls along with reverberation control. It is effective especially for areas where high acoustic comfort is of utmost priority, e.g study rooms as it requires high sound insulation walls, drywalls seamlessly serves the purpose. Designer ceilings portray creativity and enhance the feel good aspect.

Splash of colours, eclectic prints

One of the things that holds utmost importance is the colour palette. The traditional choice of colour is replaced with the colours that define an individual’s persona. Wallpaper is another easy and an efficient accessory to diffuse sound which almost never goes out of style. Coupled with gypsum-based drywalls, wallpaper is a no-brainer to spruce up your interior home aesthetics. Paints are an option which all households opt for and is comparatively a feasible option. Adding patterns and print will accelerate and modify the look and feel. Large-scale graphic prints, especially vertical stripes can be a great addition, apart from motifs and traditional artistic designs. Patterned tiles and bold colour blocks make an impact in the overall visual of the room.

Spatial Design

When renovating, it’s important to reflect on aspects such as storage and ample space to move around. Swapping of internal doors or adding wall dividers like a drywall with its acoustic factor makes it the best fit for spatial designs. Creating drywall partitions comes at a reasonable cost, and provides an artistic touch to a house. For smaller spaces minimalism is the mantra. Lesser objects project higher appeal to its aesthetical value. Hence, spaced out rooms with glass-based windows creates an illusion of elongated walls and also helps usher in natural light, making the room appear spacious, effervescent and brighter.
