Delhi-based NGO Conducts Workshop On Menstrual Hygiene, Distributes Sanitary Pads

Wishes and Blessings, an NGO dedicated to improving the lives of underprivileged individuals, successfully conducted a workshop in Delhi on menstrual hygiene to observe World Menstrual Hygiene Day to raise awareness about menstrual hygiene and provide feminine hygiene essentials to women living in the Madipur slum.

According to the organisation, the menstrual hygiene workshop addresses the challenges women face in underserved communities. With the support of Bliss Sanitary Napkins, the Wishes and Blessings team distributed pads and other menstrual hygiene essentials to women of the Madipur slum and adjoining areas.

Commenting on the initiative, Founder and President of Wishes and Blessings, Dr Geetanjali Chopra said, "Menstrual hygiene plays a pivotal role in the well-being and dignity of women. By organising this workshop, we urge women to live and lead healthier lives. We believe that every woman deserves access to adequate menstrual hygiene facilities and education and are committed to working towards this cause. This workshop aimed to raise awareness among underprivileged women and girls about menstruation, emphasising the importance of maintaining menstrual hygiene, the potential consequences of neglecting hygiene and the benefits of using sanitary napkins.”

“Among the attendees, only around 6 per cent of women had prior knowledge about sanitary pads and their usage. Most were unaware of these hygiene products due to limited accessibility and lack of information. Furthermore, with the motive to address this crucial concern of menstrual hygiene and promote awareness on a larger scale, Wishes and Blessings is planning to conduct more such workshops in Delhi and other parts of India,” Dr Geetanjali added.
