Stress & Anxiety - Biggest Challenges In Corporate World

The eminent panel discussed about the mental health issues at workplace and how to cope with it

Opening the discussion, Nina Kler of BW Businessworld said that there is a way out of the mental health issues, that people are suffering nowadays a lot, by integrating 'meditation' and 'mindfulness.' Moving ahead, she asked the panel about substance abuse in the corporate world. 

The panellists included Dr. Akshay, Psychologist, Artemis, Dr. Sanjay Chugh, Senior Consultant Psychiatrist, Suzy Singh, Author, Emotional Wellbeing Coach, Clinical Hypnotherapist & Counsellor, Vikram Beri, Founder, BetterLYF.com, Dr. Reena Kotecha, Medical Physician Workforce Health and Wellbeing Specialists. The panel was chaired by Nina Kler, Editorial Lead - BW Wellbeing.

"Corporate world abuses every kind of drug to decrease the stress caused at their workplace", said Sanjay Chugh.

Reena Kotecha further pondered light on the issue of stress at the workplace and how can one be helpful to the people who are stressed out. 

She said, "80-90% of the stress is triggered at workplace which then spills over to home, causes problems in relations, problems of money and that then starts impacting the productivity, performance & engagement of the individuals"

"There is power in vulnerability. Opening about yourself when in stress to someone, you give the permission to the other person to do the same. If you want someone to open up with you, you do the same", she added. 

Suzy suggested, ways to be healthy mentally, that after returning home from office, one should detox from the devices and come home to themself, to feel the inner feelings, in order to cope up with the disturbances in life. One should not escape them because it usually leads to acting out.

"Positive is something which really needs to be taken care of. Rather than trying to eliminate the negative what if we try to inculcate the positive, the negative will be taken care by itself", said Dr. Akshay.
