Talking about smart city initiatives in Pimpri, Poman said “We are covering 700km of optic fibre to provide a brand with, Wi-Fi hotspots etc. We are 29th rank in 99th smart cities. Currently, the execution is the greatest challenge, we have a consulting teams and internal operational teams who day to day operational work, about trenching, ducting and how we can integrate control and command centres are being built to get smart traffic, parking, CCTV cameras around the city, and have a city mobile app which will have integrated information about water, weather, electricity.”

Sharma highlighted the smart city Ujjain initiative by saying, “Ujjain is a religious and cultural city and is also a smart city. It can accommodate so many conclaves, that all start with the blessings of Mahakal. There is no definition of smartness, it is about intellectual ability, VTMs is a GPS app for people to have information about their vehicles health initiatives like having health chaos at public places to check their blood pressure. We will get a huge grant for a smart city from the government and we have already laid down plans for infrastructure for roads, cables etc.”

Mahale said, “Data centres today are a zoo of hardware, can you have the foundation of the smart city is smart infrastructure that we have done be it in Belgium and other countries. We can apply that in places like Ujjain.
