Stressing on the importance to have a more conducive ecosystem for the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the country, DC MSME Ram Mohan Mishra stated, “The growth and development of this sector can be achieved only if the easy ecosystem is ensured. We need them to integrate with the global value chain for India. There are huge possibilities. We need to reduce the transaction process. We need to have a voluntary team of MSMEs to act as a bridge between govt and the industry. That will ensure we are able to closely look at the investments made by them in a productive manner. That will create possibilities and value for them and ultimately help them integrate with the global.”
He said this while making a keynote address at the BW Businessworld Growth Leadership Conclave and Awards 2018: From SMEs to Unicorns. He maintained that for sustainable growth of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector, it is important to ensure inclusivity and sensitivity to those unable to keep pace with the surge in technology.
Mishra envisioned Meghalaya's population as entrepreneurs instead of beneficiaries when he was the Principal Secretary, Planning, Govt. of Meghalaya and CEO of Meghalaya Basin.
He added, “Business means someone creates something and you benefit out of it. What is that business that begins with the idea of success to render some service to somebody else? For those who are living for something and has a passion has a bigger dream. If you are running a million dollar company, how many zeros can you add to it? Will there be an end to it? This human aspect is to drive limitless that is irrespective of the fact whether you are a micro small or medium enterprise. But the business people need to also take into account the needs and aspirations of their customers and employees. In India, if you take out the large enterprise, small medium and large enterprises account for 70% of the overall industry.” He further said that his intention is to tackle the challenges of logistics, capacity and institutional lacunae.
