The 10th edition of the BW Businessworld Magna Awards 2018 recognized the top banks of the Indian industry. Mr. Aditya Puri, MD, HDFC Bank was awarded and felicitated with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

During his acceptance speech, Mr. Puri spoke about the positive changes with respect to globalization in the country.

He said, "In today's times there has been an excess of convergence regarding media and telecommunication that we have now networked ourselves across the globe. The fundamentals are changing and now all the businesses focus on keeping the consumer at the center as an active player in the industry. Hence every new business has eventually become customer-centric. This is a very important philosophy for us at HDFC Bank as each of our customer is well addressed to and taken care of."

Mr. Puri in his speech was very positive about the economic growth of the country. With the implementation of GST and modern ways of doing business, he was positive about the future.

"It is the best time for India right now as we progress towards a 7% growth. In my opinion under the recent tax reforms, there has been an ease of doing business. The country is focusing towards financial inclusion as well with a parallel focus on Digital India."

While commencing his speech Mr. Puri discussed the contributions of HDFC Bank in the year 2017 and the new focus of the bank. He said, "We at HDFC Bank are constantly working towards improving the economy of the nation as 12% of our workforce has brought 8 million families above the poverty line in 2017 and these were mainly the women of the organization."

"While we concentrate on developing the rural areas we are also focusing on increasing education and healthcare where more number of the workforce could make a bigger difference. I thank you all for hearing me out and I am honored deeply to have receive this award and thank BW Businessworld & PwC for this trophy," added Mr. Puri.
