IMD Issues 'Yellow' Alert In Mumbai

Despite the heavy showers, some parts of the island city witnessed light showers or occasional heavy rain and there were no rain in some areas

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a 'yellow' alert in Mumbai, predicting moderate to heavy showers on Monday. 

IMD’s alert came following the heavy rainfall that was observed in parts of Mumbai in the last 24 hours. The weather department said the eastern and western suburbs of the city received an average rainfall in the 24-hour period ending at 8 am on Monday which was 58.42 mm, 69.15 mm and 70.41 mm, respectively.

Despite the heavy showers, some parts of the island city witnessed light showers or occasional heavy rain and there were no rain in some areas.

The city that usually gets flooded during heavy rains has not reported any waterlogging anywhere in the city, as per reports. Furthermore, Mumbai’s lifeline - the local train services are also running normally.
