92-Year-old Rupert Murdoch To Marry Ann Lesley Smith: Reports

Rupert Murdoch, a multibillionaire media magnate, is getting ready for his sixth wedding. The 92-year-old businessman announced his engagement to Ann Lesley Smith through an article that appeared in one of his own magazines, the New York Post, on Monday.

Murdoch revealed to gossip columnist Cindy Adams that he first met his future wife in September while she was a guest at his Bel Air, California, vineyard, the Moraga Estate. Murdoch admitted that he was extremely nervous during their brief romance. He said, “I dreaded falling in love – but I knew this would be my last. It better be. I’m happy.”

Because he is one-fourth Irish, the founder of News Corp. got down on one knee in New York on St. Patrick's Day and proposed with an Asscher-cut diamond solitaire.

The wedding is scheduled for the end of the summer this year. Murdoch added, “We’re both looking forward to spending the second half of our lives together.”

Chester Smith, a country singer and radio and TV executive who passed away in 2008, was previously married to Smith. The 66-year-old future bride claimed that she and Murdoch, whose empire includes outlets like Fox News and The Wall Street Journal, became close because of their mutual expertise in the media business. 

Former flight attendant Patricia Booker, journalist Anna Murdoch, and businesswoman Wendi Deng were all prior spouses of Murdoch. He's got six kids. In St. Bride's Church on London's Fleet Street, he married Jerry Hall, a former model, as his fourth wife in 2016. However, they were divorced last August.
