In the presence of G Kishan Reddy, Minister of State, for Home Affairs, Government of India along with Dr. Anurag Batra, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief, BW Businessworld; G Narendra Nath, Joint Secretary, National Security Council Secretariat, Government of India and P Vinod Kumar, CEO & Managing Director, Subex. BW Businessworld observed its 2nd Secure India Conclave held today in New Delhi.
The conclave began with the welcome note by Dr. Batra. He welcomed G Kishan Reddy. While talking about the cyber security he said, “Data is very critical to the function and to secure it is the foremost areas of concern.”
It proceeded with an industry address by P Vinod Kumar. He talked about the vulnerability of Indian citizens due to elevated digitization in the country. He also said, “Cyber security is a marathon and we can’t win it alone. There’s a need to make India digitally thriving and safe simultaneously.”
Following the address, ‘State of IoT Security Report – India’ presented by Subex was launched by Reddy.
Adding to cyber security, Reddy said, “With multi-stakeholders, the government is prioritizing the security issues. The rapid change in technology innovation and the growing use of public and private cooperation, the ministry has formed separate divisions to deal with cyber security.”
Currently, a pilot project is running in Jammu & Kashmir with a high-tech surveillance system to keep an eye on land, water, air and underground activities. Reddy also mentioned the changed practice of e-visa by Indian citizens. 40 per cent of the total visas has been issued digitally.
Talking about the future of the digital technology, Nath said, “Though we need a standardized space for data digitization with the help of technologies like 5G, artificial intelligence, blockchain and cloud, we can achieve it soon.”
Lastly, Nath said, “Learning from our neighbour, China, who is contributing 30-40 per cent IPR, we should look ahead in that direction and improved cyber security can be achieved by a model document.”
