Gandhi-Mandela peace initiative along with Believe Foundation, RBP Foundation, and The Sunday Guardian Foundation, proceeded with another panel discussion with youths of the country on 11thJuly.
With moderator, Rishab Gulati, News Editor and a prime-time Anchor at iTV network, the panel included the youngest Member of Parliament, Tejasvi Surya, Indian footballer and entrepreneur, BhaichungBhutia, Author, Columnist and Yoga Acharya, Ira Trivedi and Anurag Batra, Founder of Believe Foundation and Chairman & Editor-in-Chief of BW Businessworld.
Beginning the discussion, Gulati asked Suryato define an Indian youth. He said, “By the inherent nature, youth likes to be idealistic about various things. The younger generation wants to change things around to challenge their status. The rebellion nature looks up for justice and equality. Reformers like Mandela and Gandhi wants to maintain the idealism their action.”
Bhaichung said, “There has been a shift in the mentality of both parents and youth of the country. Earlier, youths were more pressurized for the job by their parents but now the tradition has changed. The young generation should decide what they love and pursue it.”
Dealing with the millennial generation, Batra said, “Today, a lot of youth has a social influence on people, and this is encouraging reverse mentoring, where youth inspires the older people. Youth are known for dreaming of the impossible.”
“There is a moment in everyone’s life when they experience a mid-life crisis, which makes us question life,” said Ira. Talking about the progress, she said, “India ranks among those countries who have lesser number of working women and she suggested to increase the eligible age to 26-27 years for women to get married, as this will help the women to work and grow, which will improve the progress level of India.”
Concluded the discussion, Surya said, “Though our generation is the most comfortable generation of all the time there is no better time than today to be an entrepreneur. It is necessary to have absolute courage of conviction.” Adding to this, Bhutia said, “Risk is a part of success. It might include failure, but we need to take our chances.
